Hi
Has anyone got any feedback on a company called Aeromax. They are based in crevellente and say they supply telephone and broardband. It is broardcast by use of microwave signals and requires no landline.(says aeromax web site)As I have a house near Catral and no land line aeromax could be an option for me.As it is a new product to me im really looking to hear from anyone who has any experience of aeromax.

Derek
I'm using a system similar to what it sounds like they offer.
I use Skynetlink who are based in Catral

Don't expect anything like the British broadband speeds, but their service is very acceptable for internet speed and reliability

A quick look at their web site, shows they operate a similar system

You have an ariel on your roof that connects you to the internet and telephone service.

Our system from skynet came with a wireless broadband router, which the telephone system plugs into.

So no need for messing about setting up networks either.

All our telephones purchased in Spain should be compatible with the internet telephone service. Which is a bonus, no messing about buying Skype phones etc

One thing worth considering if you intend to use a computer in Spain, is investing in a battery back up system for any power cuts. We found these cheaper to buy in the UK at a well known computer store.

I know the original question was about Aeromax in Crevellente, I have tried to give some kind of insight into how the wireless internet and telephone works here

Hi Lee,
I'm glad I found your forum after doing a search for Catral in google. I'm hoping to immigrate to Spain once my house is sold & I'm interested in Catral/Dolores area.

I've read a lot in various forums & a lot of british expats think that Telefonica is the way for internet access. In your opinion, do you think that Skynetlink is better than telefonica? Is Skynetlink more reliable & cheaper than telefonica?
Thanks.

One of the problems of living in the sticks over here is not having a telephone line. Telephonica have a bit of a bad name for messing up peoples telephone bills.

I have read of people being billed for a completely different house and then being expected to get their money back off that home owner.

You have the alternative of microwave internet from other providers if you can not get a normal telephone line.

But dont expect flyingly fast broadband on a microwave system. One of my mates in the UK now talks about 16meg lines when you might be lucky to get 1 meg over here.

But you do get used to it and unless you spend your life down loading stuff, you wont get much benefit. Thats what I keep telling myself anyway

Yes I also heard a lot of bad things about telefonica. I don't download songs & Skynetlink will be good enough for me.

If you live in rural Catral you will not automatically be entitled to a Telefonica landline.

We asked for 1, but said it may be up to 3 years because we are not on a main road and (believe it or not) it depends on how many telegraph poles are required to link you up! If it is over 3 then you are not automatically entitled to service. If however you have an elderly family member or someone who is seriously ill the rule does not apply.

This is what they told us (2 years ago) and at that time we believed anything we were told!!

So we went down the other route too - but are using Punto Acceso in Catral, who offer the same service as Skynet. So have not bothered to get back in touch with Telefonica as like previous posts say they are a very unreliable company to deal with and at least the Company we are using now are only just down the road if we have a problem!

Again, agree the service / speeds are not brilliant - it does provide a well needed communication line.

Their telephone number is: 966 190 400 for anyone that may be interested.
