Longs bar Catral

 

Think its this Friday, Geoff has his leaving party at Longs bar.

Should be a good night for a bevvy or three there.

He has decided to sell up and move onto other things.

No idea about what his brother and sister in law, Paul and Loraine are doing yet, who ran the kitchen there.

Geoff, if you read this, good luck for the future

 

Does that mean Longs Bar is closing down , only just found it and recommended it to others after seeing this site and using the Wi-Fi ?

 

Just a change of owners. June, one of the bar staff is taking the place over from the end of the month.

As far as I know, it will be business as normal, wifi, food etc

So it will still be a Brit bar

Casa Raquel´s are also looking into doing wifi as well, so they were saying on Friday night

 

Just a quick follow upon this. Since the leaving party, some might have noticed my inconsistent times giving support on here. One person asked for help at 3pm and got a reply at 3am

I suffered an injury that night, which has left me on pain killers since, which I am making a very slow, recovery from. Nothing serious I might add, just pain killers and rest needed.

First off. June has taken over the bar and Becky who helped run the kitchen with Paul and Loraine, will still be in the kitchen.

So there are no changes to the bar, drinks and food as per normal.

Geoff, Paul and Loraine, if you read this, I wish you every luck in the future, what ever you now decide to do. As all three of you know, I have known you as friends for a long time.

It was also the last performance by another local, who sings under the name of Elvis, who again, I wish all the best for the future and your plans.

It was also nice to bump into one or two others from here at the leaving party, Lillian and Wardog included in that. And the look on Lillians friends face when she found I was not a spotty 16yr kid was priceless

If only I was 26 years younger

All in all, a very good night and the bar was buzzing, right up to the end, when our group left.

 

I Don’t know if any of you have been in Longs since the new owner June took the bar over, the bar has had a bit of a face lift and looks fantastic, the bar now is spotless clean I heard a man say that , that was the cleanest men’s bathroom he had ever been it . hee hee I had to laugh but its true.
Its now very homely, warm and welcoming. June and her family have worked very hard to get the place looking nice and it shows.

I had a roast dinner in there on Sunday that was fantastic so the kitchen is still up to the high quality were used to from them.

After talking to June the other day she is having the TV put on so that we can watch all the Ruby and footie this year so that should be good. And the Wi fi is still working as normal.

She was also telling me that this Friday they are having a curry and karaoke night and I must say its sound good at 9.50€ So I will be there to check it out. Sound like a good excuse for a beer or five and a curry and a laugh.

Seems to me June is trying very hard to make her locals welcome. Looks like I’ve found my self a new place to drink.

Finally found out what has happened to Geoff, Paul and Loraine since Geoff sold to June

Paul and Loraine have gone back to the UK. Two friends less in the village now

Geoff is on another mission here. He is in the process of offering the village something it does not have. He will be opening a fast food van in the next couple of months, up by where the biker bar was.

He found that very few places in Catral offer food after about midnight. He will be doing fast food until about 6am on a weekend

 

You say the guy who had Longs bar is opening a takeaway van by the old biker bar in front of the briogas peterol station!
Just had lunch with guy who owns them units and he has told me he has rented them for a large chinese bazar type shop and the other is to be a late night bar/disco may be good news for your mate

 

So Geoff was saying Friday night, he has the trailer over here already, just a case of getting it past its ITV. He has imported it from the UK. Once that is all sorted, he said a month or two at most, he will be doing late night food there on a weekend. All agreed by the town hall etc.

It will be one to watch. How many burger vans do you see in Spain?

Touch wood, it could be another Brit with an idea that makes it and takes off
