Default trying to move to Spain

Hi, I have been trying to sell my home in the u/k, and move to Spain ( Costa Blanca) Last week the sale was to go ahead contracts signed plus cheque , but not exchanged, I was waiting for a phone call from my solicitor to say, give the keys over but the call was to say the buyer had changed her mind at the last min which left me with a legal bill. I have a pal who has just lately bought a villa in Catral ( Tony Richardson is his name ) after what he has told me , This sounds like a nice place to live, and I will be coming over to have a look around soon. I find this site a lot of help to me regarding Spain. Have fun .Pat

Bloody hell Pat, looks like I'm going to have to wait a bit longer for you to buy me a beer.

Did you have a place sorted over here to rent set up or other accommodation already being rented?

I thought once you was that far into buying a house in the UK there was no pulling out at the last minute or you lot the deposit and a load of cash from solicitors fees etc

I know with my own move, I was worried about the shit hitting the fan so to speak, with leaving my job and having a mortgage to pay if all went wrong

I'm gob smacked mate. Lets hope you find another buyer soon

I hate selling anything, you can always guarantee most of the enquiries will be from bloody idiots. With a house it's even worse.

The last viewer of the house we are selling arrived with a torch and wanted to poke around in the loft, then went round tapping on the walls and looking under the carpets. After all that he admitted he didn't have any money until he'd sold his gaff.

Good luck anyway

Houses are now going up for sale in the area, but from what I have been told, all sellers of illegal houses in the area must make the fact that its illegal when they sell.

All houses that are illegal will receive the dreaded paper work and its advised not to ignore it and go through the motions with your solicitor. Don't just ignore it.

The new mayor is still trying to resolve the problem with a good outcome.

There has been talk of extra fees being added to make houses legal on top of the fees for being turned into urbano's

You keep hearing rumor's about whats going on, but until you see it in black and white, there is a lot of speculation.

If you was to buy a place now, in a years time, if and when the houses get made legal, you could end up paying several thousand more euro in fines and taxes.

If you do buy in the area, keep some funds back for a rainy day

And stay well away from houses on El Hondo. The houses there are built on nature reserve land, which falls into other laws with respect to their legality.
