HELP FOR DRIVERS IN SPAIN
There is no doubt about it, driving in Spain is not the same as driving in the UK. Apart from the obvious fact of being on the opposite side of the road (you had noticed that I hope!) there are a number of different legal requirements to cover and of course there are the different conditions that you can encounter on the roads over here as far as the weather is concerned. Whilst we are blessed with wonderful fine weather for much of the time there is always the threat of a Gota Fria at certain times of the year and the ensuing problems of trying to cope with flash flooding.
To help us all make sure we are as prepared as we can be for such events and that we are covered form a legal point of view the Club Torrevieja, Classics and Specialist cars, will shortly be holding its third Driver’s Awareness Campaign.
The Club has very thoughtfully decided to provide information that it has free of charge to those who are interested; you do not have to be a member of Club Torrevieja. Here is what the club has to say in its pre-launch publicity.
Next Month is the launch of our 3rd Driver’s Awareness campaign. At the 3rd September monthly meeting David Hudson will be giving a talk on driving in Spain, what you should legally carry in your car and, in preparation of forecast of heavy rains and possible floods in October, advice on dealing with Spanish rains and flooding.
The public are invited to our meeting and if advised before hand will receive a free information pack.
We will also be able to email, if they are interested, with updates when necessary e.g. Law changes or Police or Authorities having a campaign which might affect them.
The Club is interested in only helping the foreigners cope with driving in Spain and unlike other businesses who have copied our campaign we are not interested in selling anything to them.
David has over 20 years experience in driving in this area in Spain. Also as a founder member and Vice President for three years of a Spanish Classic Club has been able to gain advice and help in understanding the problems and laws of Spain. He has been dealing with the Spanish Authorities in connection with cars for seven years. AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF THE CLUB TORREVIEJA
To Continue Torrevieja’s legacy of International cooperation and integration.
To provide activities involving members’ Vehicles.
To help in the conservation of Classic Vehicles.
To achieve the Aims and Objectives the Club produces a programme to include regular meetings to keep members informed of Club Activities.

To have social activities to provide the means of meeting fellow members.
Members are residents, long stay and holiday visitors and all are welcomed at our Monthly meeting.
Club Torrevieja meets on the first Wednesday of every month in the Marina Club Cafeteria, International Marina in Torrevieja at 7.30pm David is also willing to talk to clubs and other groups to spread the information. Please note that the meeting is tomorrow night Wednesday 3rd September.
