I am moving to Sax in May this year and I am bringing my Harley from Canada. Is there anyone that can give me information on the process to register my bike in Spain or if someone could point me in the right direction or again a shop that could handled the process. I have looked long and hard and cant find information on the process... what is required ect. I know I need an NEI, proof of ownership, insurance ect but what I am really concerned with is the ITV inpection requirement. Is there online a sit that will tell you the requirement of a specific vehicle...???
I would appreciate any information.
On another note since I am Canadian and I guess we really cant drive properly here... I am to redo my license... which mean tke a test and all. Does anybody know of a place that will give the ;essons and test in English since my Spanish is not very good at the moment.

Again thank you...

Going by my own car importing experiences. Keep the bike to manufacturers spec. Any extras added and the Spanish get confused. Bring all the standard bits with you, bung them on for the ITV, swap them back to your own bits after.

If you look in the free papers, there are plenty of companies that offer import services and its worth using their services to relieve your own stress.

Any good importer should be able to find out the taxes you will pay plus give some idea of the total costs excluding what needs to be done for the ITV. They will need a few days to find out how much the taxes you pay will be.

Road tax can vary from area to area, since its not the same price across Spain.

Welcome to the forums

Just checked the driving licence laws for non EU citizens in Spain and it dont make good reading according to a book called "You and the law in Spain"

First six months you should be OK. Just make sure you can prove you have been in Spain less than six months. The Spanish police can issue a €300 fine if you can not.

If the vehicle you in is your own and on Spanish plates you need extra paperwork. You will either need an international driving licence as well as your Canadian one or get the Spanish consulate in Canada to do a translation to cary with you.

Now the bad part about obtaining a Spanish driving licence.

After six months you must take the Spanish driving test when you become resident in Spain.

You must take both the written and practical test, just like any new driver in Spain.

Some areas of Spain used to offer the test in English, but now most areas only do the written exam in Spanish. Check with a local school, you might be lucky.

You must also attend a Spanish driving school and pay its fees, you can not take a driving test without attending a Spanish driving school.

For a car test, a basic course will cost about €500

And on top of that you will also need to take the medical, eye test and reaction test.

Not good
