Ever since I arrived here 3 1/2 years ago I have been bemused by the Spanish system for dealing with roundabouts. The mini-roundabout is obviously a free for all, but the bigger ones are something of a concern.

I have witnessed driving school cars and police cars take the right hand lane when turning left. They then drive, very slowly, around the perimeter of the roundabout before narrowly avoiding being T-Boned by me, going straight on and using the left hand lane.

Further enquiries have revealed that the left hand lane is usually reserved for those doing a u-turn.

What kind of madness is this? A lane specifically for the purpose that no-one does? Does anyone have any other ideas why this may be?

When I first found a roundabout up North in Galicia, no-one knew how to deal with it so it was very random. Now they seem to be teaching new road users a very bizzare method,

So there is a method of using the roundabouts here and not just enter, close eyes and cut up anyone in your way.

In the past I have had the pleasures of covering London and the M25 area, they seem likes drives in the country compared to some of the driving standards in Spain.

Simple rules of driving, the bigger the cahonas, the more right of way you deserve.

You forgot the other driving law in Spain, Spanish reg cars have the right of way over any British registered car, no matter what the signs might indicate.

The only way to survive Spanish roundabouts is to drive Spanish, use both lanes and your horn!
