This is really useful stuff for someone who is a collector of airguns and is thinking of living in Spain - but there sounds to be a lot of red tape, especially for multiple items. I'll read through everything, and post anything new I discover from friends in Spain.

thanks!

The info given is superb.

I have one problem with the purchase of airguns that is not fully clear. I can legally own an air rifle, so instead of going through the hassle of bringing mine from the UK, I just want to buy a springer or a CO2 for plinking.

I have found a shop in Cartegena that stocks all I would like, but they will not accept my NIE and ID, they want my residents permit #.

Well, as I havent applied for my Residencia, so that leave me a little stuffed. Where are the rules that say that you must hold a residencia to buy/own an air rifle?

Bugger, missed this one

The two air rifles I purchased over here I just showed my UK passport to buy them.

Never got asked for NIE or residencia. I think a lot depends on the shop where you buy from. Sid got asked to leave one due to his body art and the amount of it.

I did, after a bit of brushing up with my spanish, get a result from one of your posted addresses, Armeria Serma Sports. However, they wanted a bank transfer only, no Cards, so I respectfully turned them down. Not having any experience of them and no-one else posting recomendations, its too risky in my book.

Anyway got all I needed from the UK. Bought the guns, stripped them down, in a box, and delivered courtesy of DHL.

Not the way I wanted but it worked.

But a glum end. A local store has hust started selling air guns, air pistols and starting pistols. I use the store a lot so they recognise me, NIE number is all they want. Have ordered some extras, no problem. Could have saved a bit of cash, but now I know.

I purchased my latest air rifle the Gamo Viper express from Carabinas y Pistolas - Carabinas y Pistolas .com Gamo Norica Bsa y Cometa

they deliver it to your door and you pay the delivery guy (contrareembolso), pretty simple.

they didnt even ask for I.D

Most of the Spanish online dealers are good for your money. Unlike the UK where you would place your order, punch in your credit card details and then have a safety net if things go wrong, over here its bank account details and direct transfers.

If you ever look at the Spanish ebay, a lot of sellers there do the same.

Lets hope they never get the chip and pin stage which you seem to need in the UK even to buy a bloody mars bar

And some shops sell some nice semi auto pcp´s over here

Plus you get a free trip to the dentist with every springer after they loosen your fillings

Very helpful guys. I certainly would like to get hold of an 18ftlb Gammo, that little extra accuracy without such a massive drop off 50 yards+ would be great.

Do you think I was a little hasty by not mail ordering in Spain? I suppose its the UK mistrust coming out.

Interesting about the door to door delivery and pay the driver. But I wonder if that would be as far down as Mazarron?

I live in the United States and stumbled upon this website on Spanish Airguns. I am acutely aware that countries other than my own often limit access and use of arms more so than the United States. What caught my attention was the prohibition of using air guns to harvest live animals in Spain. Does any one have any insight as to the reasoning behind this prohibition on using airguns as a hunting tool? I will also repeat this in Spanish Language to accomodate a spanish reader who may happen to view this post.
