So whats the difference between a silencer and muzzel break. Mine has it written on there in my best crayon
OK OK ......sorry ...i should have said .22lr !!!...back home in OZ when you say .....'its a .22'.... its always a .22lr rifle .....we have a lot more .22lr rifles than .22 air rifles....

part of the problem is that as you have to register any air rifle/pistol and have a firearms license to own air guns ....why bother with air rifles when a cheap .22lr will do the job much better..if a bit louder !

Oh and the diff with muzzle breaks and silencers is..... one makes guns louder and the other more quiet !!!! ever stood next to a Mini 14 being shot with a 'break'.....Jesus my ears are still ringing !!!!!

Which was amusing because the aforementioned owners best friend had asked me a few weeks earlier to make him a silencer for his full bore rifle so he can go hunting out of season - silencers being horribly illegal in Spain.
So this Spaniard has the cheek to ask me to break their firearms laws but his mate won't even sell me an airgun ? That sums Spain up for me - they think we all dropped off a Xmas tree, which I certainly didn't.

One shop in Valencia I didn't even get properly through the door of. As soon as the owner saw me he started waving his ams around like a Thunderbirds puppet and ushered me out. What a cock. Typical Spaniard as well, about 5 feet tall, wearing crimplene old man trousers and a cardigan which looked like he stole it off a tramp. The drains were broken near the shop doorway so the place smelled like a sewer. Typical Spain again.

And before anyone suggests I have an attitude problem, I was all smiles, politeness and doing my best to converse in their language ( for what good it did )
El Sid,

I can relate to your experiences !!! most armeria owners are tossers.....forget about the 'Armeria Espanola' shops in Madrid...they treat you like you have leprosey..!!!

Even my Spanish wife was amazed at their lack of politeness and indifference....I guess it's because Hunting is a sport for the rich here and if you dont have your Christian Dior designer cod peice on they dont take you seriously !!!!

I've seen from other posts here that indicate you're a bike afficianado...were you wearing your Hells Angels (Brum Chapter) denim jacket on ?? Probably would do the trick !!! I know its a 'wank' ...but I always wear a nice shirt pants & shoes when I go to the armerias here....the Spanish are big on appearances ....."when in ROME .......'

I've done the rounds of Madrid & Salamanca Armerias and the 'Pro Shop Armeria in Madrid were the most helpful......(the boss speaks english too)

Surely Lee or some of the other bodgies on this forum know of a few civilised Armerias down your way......

On another subject why buy here ??? (why give the buggers the benefit of your hard earned cash!) .....its cheaper to buy quality (ie: UK & German) air pistols/rifles in the UK and bring em over.....

Ok Gamo's, Noricas & Cometas are cheaper ...but thats all......

....BA give you a free sporting equipment allowance......

Easyjet will just charge you for an extra bag/box and you can stuff a few shotin irons in there !!!

I think you are right about my appearance being a factor. I've got a lot of jailhouse style tattoos and this seems to freak many Spanish people out. It's too hot to cover up and I'm too bloody minded anyway. Besides, I paid good money for all that ink

With hindsight maybe the " Kill Em All, Let God Sort 'Em Out " T shirt wasn't helping either

Next time you're in a newsagent (well whatever they call em here) pick up a copy of one of the Spanish Huntin rags...'Trofeo' or Caza etc...check out the gear they go out hunting in ...

.tweeds and ties...pooncey hats etc maybe a cravat !!!! no DPM or Soldier 95 camo anywhere in sight !!!!!

Thats just got me thinking

Doing away with the separate forums for airgun and shooting and joining them together. There will be a forum title change for this section, depicting what its about, so if its bookmarked, thats going to bugger you about a bit.

Since the likes of both you and Sid shoot both. No point in having you looking at two dead forums, when we can have one slightly bigger dead section

All three shooting web site portals to this section will need to be changed to point to the one place. Which will happen over the next couple of days.
Plus those wed sites will be updated with any new information that needs adding.

Yep sounds like a good idea....I know you put a lot of work and really good stuff in the shooting forum .....which I dont usually get time to look at !!!!
hardly get time to look at any of the Forums since we've had a baby !!!

I suppose when more people join in you can run separate forums at a later date..but if we just have a smallish core at the moment might as well try to consolidate !!!!!

Yep, full bore means something centrefire here. We call target shooters 'gravel bellies' and it's meant with affection ( unless I'm saying it, when it isn't )

I personally have no time whatsoever for the target boys. Time and time again they have rolled over in the face of government legislation and betrayed the wider world of shooting - they are happy with the government banning everything firearms related except their elitist hobby of punching holes in targets at Bisley.

I'd like to see decent people armed for their protection. Balls to target shooting, I've never met such a bunch of unpleasant ' live with my mum ' weirdo's in my life.

Sid, I think you need to say what you mean rather than beat about the bush giving no clear definitive version of your views and thoughts
