| Psychological test It seems that you have to take a psychological test to get any sort of firearms license. I'm sure I can pass it, just by telling the person the opposite of what I'm really thinking ( no, it is NOT the Day of Judgement and I am NOT the Angel of Death etc )
I can't yet lie in Spanish though.
Seriously, am I going to have to be fluent, or can they conduct the test in English ? |

| Re: Psychological test hi sid,
i took the test for shotgun cert, you take the test which is more of a mini medical at the same place as you would take a driving license medical .
these are like mini health centres the name i cant remember.
it really is no big deal , more of an apptitude test , i.e
what box fits this , what box fits that. its all very laid back and cost about 30 euros. i asked my local spanish gp if he could do it and he point blank refused. i went with a spanish friend ,but with a very basic grasp of spanish you could wing it.
what you have to remember is that here EVERY BODY SHOOTS SOMETHING,
you are not regarded as a nutter because you enjoy a sport.
i have found the best way to make spanish friends is to take them head on in competition , and not to mind if you cock up now and again.
where are you an rfd, a friend of mine here was an rfd in essex.
all the best mookman, mookman. |

| Re: Psychological test Cheers for that, it's the first straight answer I've had on the subject.
I'm in Derbyshire - I'm not a retailer, I'm a gunsmith. I don't have a shop or anything like that. |

| Re: Psychological test CZ-75 ? prohibited weapon here in the UK, remember
I know VERY little about handguns, but light strikes on rimfires in general can be caused by a dirty chamber, or damage to the chamber rim from lots of dry firing. Just something for you to check and easy to put right.
I've got lots of AR-15 bits, if thats any help |

| Re: Psychological test yea take youre point, but it seems to me every time i put on the tv there is another shooting!!! i dont seem to recall this ten years ago.
im sure there is a relevant american saying, you know about when only the criminals have guns.
anyway i got me a nine and thats good enough.
talking of prohibited weapons , isn´t an AR-15 one , or is it in .22.
I HAD A RUGER 10-22, great gun , but a bit boring because it was so accurate
used to shoot a bit of practical with it.
when you come over do you ever get down this end of town(malaga)if you do give me a shout and ill take you out for the day.
all the best , mookman:Copy of flame: |

| Re: Psychological test AR-15's are legal in two forms - .22 semiautos and centrefire manual operated, with no gas system. I sort of specialise in them, or did at one time.
Cheers for the invite, I'll take you up on that. I'll probably just watch though, I can't hit anything with a shotgun |

You can buy AR 15's in .222 Remington in semiauto with a 2+1 capacity for hunting or a 10 round mag for the club.
The only restrictions for semi-auto rifles, Armalite derivatives or others, are the mag capacity (+10 round mags are illegal) and that 5.56 NATO calibre is prohibited. |

30 round mags are legal 'for collection' but expensive. I'm glad about that because I have loads of them
Semiautos aren't allowed in 'calibres of war' - I don't know the complete list but it covers 5.56X45, 7.62X51, 7.62X39 and 5.45X39. Not 9mm Parabellum or 7.62X54 ( which I think the Russians use in support weapons as well as the SVD )
Things like FALs and G3's and CETMES are made legal by converting them to .307 Winchester, an obsolete calibre which is 7.62 NATO with a rim.
I was lucky enough to get some advice and information on firearms law from a Spanish friend of a friend who works as a civilian technical expert for the Guarda Civil, that's how I found the above out.
Unfortunately he knew very little about the licensing process, especially as it applies to expats, so I'm only slightly more than clueless on that particular issue
