Post Number 2 | Gun law in Spain is controlled by the Guardia Civil. Each area has 1 GC station that deals in guns for that area, they don't all do it. Look up the site, then on the righthand side it says 'Intervención de Armas virtual
Plinking does NOT exist in Spain, at least officially, and it is not allowed to use a .22lr anywhere other than approved range. It is also NOT allowed to use them to kill anything in Spain. And don't even think of bringing silencers or sound moderators- they are illegal here.
You might try to join an club which is liberal, like mine, but some of them are full of stuffy old blokes who won't take kindly to anything that is not official competition shooting. Mine gave you a key and you could go any time alone from 9am 'til 9pm and pretty much do as you wished.
I think it will not be a problem to bring them here with a European Firearm Licence, but you will be able to get a spanish one if you are resident here. Don't just try turning up at the police station having driven down from the UK with them, they need to be officially imported into the spanish system. It may be best to get a UK dealer to send them for you, if they are worth money, or if not just sell them in uk and buy here.
You have 2 options to licence these guns in Spain:
F is for competition shooting and will will have to do a short course, practical and theory and get a suitable score when shooting. Then you can have 1 gun only. If they are typical uk - type plinking guns, you won't get any further than this in competitions. It is also what is required if you fancy pistol shooting or clays ( for competion) but you can have only 1 gun until you do some competions and get higher scores, then you can have 6.
E is for shotguns and .22lr and you can have at most six of each. It is technically a hunting type licence, but oddly you can't hunt with .22lr in Spain. You will have to either:
Pass the multiple choice exam in spanish, or can get your uk licence validated and translated and after maybe 12 months or so you'll get a spanish one issued. You will also need a medical from an approved doctor in spain, insurance ( cheap) and a hunting licence for the area you will live in, e.g. Madrid, Catalonia, Andalucia, etc. Here is cheap, other places are more expensive than where i live. you can get them online also. Costs and prerequisites vary from region to region. Type telelicencia into google and you should see it. (The forum won't allow me to post links in my 1st message)
D licence is for centre fire rifles and covers max of 5 rifles. You only need to apply for it if you have an E licence, no exams needed and you don't need to justify where you will use them like uk. You need an approved safe for these, not for shotguns and .22lr
Reloading is allowed in spain, but needs a course and it is not easy to buy powder and primers.
You can posess a max of 200 rounds of metallic ammo at home except for pistol, where you must buy it and use it in the club and not take it away!
You will have problems to buy ammo here without a spanish licence.
