Its a pity about the technical terms. There was a guy who had a web site in English with all the terms translated on it a couple of years ago. From memory he had gained his pistol licence and gave details on that

What are the rules on gun security, IE type of gun safe used, bolted to walls etc

..

You don't legally need a safe for Cat E (shotguns etc) but it's only good sense to get one. All other Categories you do and a separate safe for ammo. You must buy a certificated safe which is made for the purpose of firearm/ammo storage. They all come with fixing holes.

I've not mentioned the cost involved to do all of this:

To get Cat D, E & F has cost me approx 1100 Euros without buying a gun or firing a shot (well only at the tests). This would have been cheaper if I had applied for all Cats at once (but not much) but it was easier to do it in chunks.

Of course if you don't pass the tests/exams first time it'll cost even more and you only get 3 attempts, fail on the 3rd time and you cannot apply again.

Also, once you get a Cat F (pistol) licence, you have to enter at least 3 official IPSC shooting comps per year or you loose your licence.

Don't know why the UK does not go through this process to allow folks to get a pistol licence; oh yeah I do...only crooks are allowed guns and the police don't want you fighting back while they are shooting you in the head 7 times as you're on your way to work on the tube.

Website?!? Errr..nope.

You can shoot clays I think it's 5 Euros for 25 if you're a member but you have to pay a few bob more for entry if you're not. I'm going to have a go with my 870 so I can tell you for sure next week.

There is also a pistol range but you can also fire your shotgun there provided it's quiet; the gallery not the gun ha, ha..

It's in the middle of no-where, I couldn't tell you the address, I just know how to get there. The access track is on the left hand side of the road as you come up from Marbella just before a bar on the opposite side of the road about 1km from Ronda outskirts (confused? I am). There is a small wooden sign that has 'Club de Tiro' hand painted on it at the mouth of the track visible from the main road.

Everyone is friendly and as long as you don't go pointing your shooters in the wrong direction, pretty laid back.

They're open every day.

I usually go with a neighbour of mine, I take my Rem 597 .22LR and 870 and he takes his Walther P99 and we swap.

I'm waiting for my pistol licence, passed the shooting test last week with a poxy 22 club revolver of questionable ancestry. I'm going to get a Sig Sauer P226 X6 when it comes.

I had a S&W 629 Classic Hunter in the UK pre Police State ban. I've been toying with the idea of getting a S&W 460 XVR instead of the Sig but ammo cost made me see sense (I think).

I know what you mean about pistol crazy, but I'm a combat shotgun convert. Loosing off 7 buckshot rounds in as many seconds at a melon may sound tame but it's so...so......I'll stop now, I've got tears in my eyes just writing about it. I'm going to go out tomorrow and order that Fabarm Ultra Short early, to hell with the money!
