I've never been anywhere near a UK club in my life. I can't stand the silly old men and the Rambos. Not that they are representative, but every clubs got at least one, and that's enough to put me off.
Don't get me started on airgunners

Dont start on those airgunners Sid. You never owed one or go into shooting via them

I shot clays for about a year at a club just outside of Maidstone, then I purchased a house and lost the spare cash used to pursue the hobby

The pistol ban in the UK has always left me baffled along with the UK press and their total loathing of all things gun related. I think its just a case of time now until they start bringing in laws for the sub 12ft/lb air gun boys. And no doubt it will be handled in a similar way to that of the brococks. The owners get shafted with no compensation

How did the police handle the baning of hand guns in the UK?
Did they give any compensation for the guns handed in?

yea, maybe they figured just taking them would be a BAD idea as we all still had them at home!!
we got compensation for everything, holsters, speedloaders, presses, dies unused bullets, you name it we got it.
i think there is a 100 year D NOTICE on the exact ammount to stop the general public from freaking out over the ammount, after all it hardly reduced gun crime now did it

I spoke to my FEO last week and got some useful information. He's clued up about Spain to an extent, he owns a house there.

As far as he is aware the criminal record check is handled by Interpol. This probably means that only the more serious offences would be recorded. He suggested photocopies and translations of my UK certificates might go down well. ( I'm retaining my licences for now as I'm still going to have a UK address )

You also need this certificate for your Cat D licence (center fire rifles) - sorry for the inaccurate info

3 days back, I put in my order for a pistol (Sig Sauer P226 X-five).

I knew I'd have to buy a new gun safe just for the pistol, but what I did not know is that the law has very recently been changed on this subject.

The law now states (in a nutshell) that you must buy a special pistol safe before you buy the pistol and the gun shop are not allowed to sell you the pistol until you have one. I had to sign a form saying I understood this new law which is kept by the armoury so that in the event I don't adhere to it, they are absolved of any blame.

Anyway, the reason why this is such a big deal and I'm bothering to tell anyone about it, is because at this time you only have a choice of one safe and this costs 690 Euros!

OK, so it weighs in at 75kg and looks smart with it's combination dial etc. But it costs more than the average pistol.

When you come to renew you'll also have to get one to keep your license.

By the sounds of it, its where you will keep your wallet as well Is it just the one type of safe or are there other that are just not sold in Spain?

If there were other alternatives and sold in the UK, it would be just as cheap to drive over and pick one up.

hi all,
has anybody had any experiance of the friendly young men in the green and white cars paying a visit to see youré safe!!
most of the people i know have there pistols in mercadona bags in a draw.
i of course have a british long safe bolted to the wall, but is it the right safe!!
i figure any safe is better than no safe.
let me know when you get the sig scoot, we can go burn rubber.

Well when I got my rifle safe it came with a registration number and certificate of conformity from the laboratory of the Ministry of Industry and Energy for Spain. So I doubt it. The Spanish are very good protectionists....

Yeah, cannot wait for my Sig, got a 25 round mag coming for it as well plus the 22 conversion.
