| Re: for computer buffs A couple of things to be aware of
Ask yourself how it predicts your favourite websites, and then ask yourself where this information is stored and for how long, who can access it, and what it might be used for.
People better read the [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] very very closely before using this browser. It gives Google the right to use anything you upload via the browser for their own purposes without payment. This means any works uploaded to blogs, websites, etc etc are effectively owned by Google. You retain the copyright but give away control of your works to Google. It will not be going on my computer.

| Re: for computer buffs the feature where website visited info is stored at google can be disabled in the options menu and the EULA has been altered as below
original EULA Quote:
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content, you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.
and as the cover-all get-out
11.4 You confirm and warrant to Google that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the above licence.
| updated EULA Quote:
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services.
And 11.4 has gone - along with 11.2 and 11.3.
| more worrying are the 2 vulnerabilities so far discovered, 1 of which is the carpet bomb which has been disabled in safari 3.1.2
i will keep testing and update this thread as and when any new info is at hand

| Re: for computer buffs Even more bad news for it Quote:
Chrome is a security nightmare, indexes your bank accounts Los Angeles (CA) – Can a browser’s search function work too well? After playing around with Google’s brand new Chrome browser, we’ve discovered that its history search box will fetch all types of data - even text from HTTPS-protected financial sites like Washington Mutual and Capital One. With a few utterly simple keywords like balance, account and Sept., everything from balance information, account numbers and even how much you spent at Costco can be pulled up. | Full resport [Only Registered Users Can See Links. | Re: for computer buffs other browsers also store info from https sites, they just don't index it, but it is available from the cache files even in IE8, which supposedly has a private browsing mode.
I have tried Opera, currently version 9.5 and although it has an intuitive interface, I have found it to be a lot slower than chrome beta. In fact, being involved in IT training I have a number of browsers installed ( currently IE 6, IE 7, IE 8, Firefox 3, Opera 9.5 and safari and all of them have vulnerabilities and quirks. While I wouldn't advise anyone to use chrome as their default browser as yet (or even install it unless they are fairly computer literate), I am reasonably impressed with it's performance so far, particularly for a beta
