It’s Thursday so that can only mean one thing. The final major of the season tees off today and picking a winner is not an easy task. No European has got their hands on the trophy since 1930 and no Asian has ever come close, so that must mean that Big Phil Mick must really be fancying his chances.
But Harrington comes into the competition as the Open Champion and Poulter’s secondplace will have given him even more confidence than he already has. Westwood has foundsome great form and even Casey’s final round of 65 at last week’s Bridgestone Invitationalwas promising. Obviously Garcia needs a mention and who can rule out people like Karlsson,Stenson and Hansen who have all been consistently brilliant over the season.
When Tiger doesn’t play, it really opens up the field and Immelman’s win at Augustaearlier in the season gives hope to anyone who is playing full of confidence. Vijaypicked up his first win of the season last week so his confidence will be high andKenny Perry’s form in the states has been incredible.
The Open was one of the best majors we have witnessed for a long time and the PGAis shaping up to rival it as the tournament of the season. We’re going to be gluedto out TV sets over the weekend, what about you?
Don't take our word for it, check out what these ol' fellas think will happen.
