They say the world has run out of money and we’re killing the earth. It looks like it’s up to golfers to save the day again. That’s right we, golf’s people, can make a change by using solar panelled golf carts.
After an initial outlay of around £1,200 that should be it, fuel bills become a thingof the past.
You can get them either built with a solar panel or convert an older energy guzzlingcart by sticking some panels on the roof. These solar panels can generate up to 180watts, 60 volts and supply a hefty 3 amps directly to a 36 or 48 volt battery. Aslong as the vehicle is in the sun, the battery is constantly recharging itself throughthe solar panel.
That means you’ll never find yourself out of charge whilst climbing a steep hill ona scorching day. Plus if you have a decent accountant there are probably tax benefitsyou can claim.
Even though we’re evangelical about the benefits of a solar panelled golf cart wewon’t be investing in one quite yet. If we lived in Dubai, the Iberian Peninsula orthe States it would be a no brainer. But in cold dark Britain we may end up pushingour cart more often than not.
Do your bit, don't be out of order.
