Golf’s notorious bad boy passed away on Saturday morning at the age of ’92 in Cherokee Village, Ark. The 1958 U.S. Open champion died when his liver shut down.
An original Golf Punk, Tommy Bolt was called ‘Terrible Tommy’ and ‘Thunder’ for hison-course antics. He was often fined and suspended for slamming clubs and using abusivelanguage. He went on to set up a special fund from his earnings to pay the fines.
Bolt won 15 times on the PGA Tour with his lone major coming at Southern Hills whenhe beat Gary Player by four shots. He also represented America twice in the RyderCup teams of 1955 and 1957. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002.
