Hi not tried bbc2 yet I was just pleased to get the thing working as I have been having problems with the thomson sky digi box (the box keeps saying no signal, i tried changing the default transponder and that made no difference however my other cheap digi box shows the sky default at 11778 v no problem so I cannot see why the sky box does not work unless its broken) apart from that I can watch just about what ever I want and whichever bbc or itv regions I fancy.

The captive audience of the satellite brains. A question for you guys, if I may.

Do some of the bigger dishes need a hard base and some do not?
Someone told me that a dish over I think he said a 1.6m, needs a solid foundation.

As for Live TV, I seem to remember they were based up near Canary Wharf. Along with being owned by the same people that produced a news paper call the Sunday Sport.

And todays rumours and conspiracy theories
Taken from another web site

Quote:
source of blame lies with Elvis and Lord Lucan who knowing numbers were down for the year decided to nab Telemicro´s clients.

They squeeled to the police that Telemicro was not paying taxes which was untrue. Telemicro was in court Monday morning and produced all the relevant documents stating they were not an illegal company and that all taxes are paid to date. I had confirmation that the services of Telemicro will be reinstated by the end of the week as all their equipment was seized they need to set everything back up which takes a few days.
I changed the company name that was being brandished. One I don't like court action and two, I love the daily theories that get brandished around.

a 1.8m dish can be installed in the wall, but you must make sure that it is sheltered from the wind and that concrete "breeze" blocks are stronger than the "red brick with holes what cruble to peices when you drill into them".

all dishes can be installed on the ground - never let an installer drill into your roof - if the site already has a good solid concrete area, then it should be OK. if a base needs to be constructed then a plinth or 1m by 1m by 20cm should be good enough - thats aboout 250 kg's!!!!!! it must be dry beofre yu start to put the dish onto the support - so the concrete may look dry opnt he top, but think what it is like at the bottong - i normally allow my bases to dry for about 3 days, longer if damp / wet weather. i have found numerour installations done in a day with quick dry cement which does not hold the dish properly.

The same ones that thought all the TV being broadcast was legal

The above is said in jest

Handy site for getting a rough idea of what way to point your satellite dish is the one below
Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com

It will give people some idea of what side of their house they need to mount the dish on

Yes fixing a big dish to a wall is not really the answer, I was able to use a terrace but caution if its a roof terrace as you will drill straight into the damp proof membraine, My dish is only 1.4 but yesterday when the wind blew it grabbed the dish and if it was not tightly fixed down it would have been a problem

if the dish is exposed, i normally use two steel wires secured to a wall or point somewhere behind the dish to take the tension and provide some stability to the dish in winds.

Which satellite does freesat use?
Just looking at the satellite line of sight web site and working out the best location for a hard base etc

freesat uses the same satellites, and almost the same frequencies as the channels available on a sky receiver - Astra 2a,b,c,d and eurobird1 at 28.2-5 degrees east of south.

locate clear of trees and metal fences. remember signals reach the dish in a horizontal and vertical fashion.

remember that on satellite you get BBC Sport Interactive...you dont get this on a rebroadcast system using a mesh aerial only....6 streams of olympics at the moment - saturdays have the SCORE service (Skys Soccer Saturday but serious!), and next year Formula 1 Interactive - if it is like the German TV then you get a dedicated on board channel, a timing screen channel and all practise sessions and also i bet they will show all of the press conferences unl;ike ITV who have to not show them so that a repeat of a 20 year old film can start on time!!!

On A Sky Box - go to BBC1 and Press Red and select the option on the menu
ON A Sky box - if you do not have BBC1 go to BBC NEws and Press Red and type in the "ceefax" number for BBC Sport Interactive which is 3001 and press select
(i think the above also works on freesat boxes but i dont have mine to hand at the moment!)
on generic recivers scan frequency 12441V and the interactive channels wil appear as Stream X..where x is the number 0 to 6 of the stream..
