Default RE-BROADCASTERS "IMPORTANT"

Hello all,

Had an interesting conversation with a Guardia Civil Officer at the weekend at my Spanish friends party re the whole re-broadcasting issue over the last 3months and the future of this type of opperation in our region.....

OK, whilst he is not the head off the investigation or directly involved with the T.M arrests the topic is & has been a hot topic of conversation within the the G.C so he was very well informed and thought you would be interested in what he had to say.........

1, No paid for channels will be allowed to be broadcast by any re-broadcaster ie: SKY, Showtime, Setanta etc.....

2, If any free to air channel providers (BBC, ITV, CH4 etc...) specificaly object to and send an official complaint re the use of their content to the G.C / Courts then any companies using thier content will be forced to remove the channels involved......

3, It is illegal to charge for F.T.A channel reception (if a channel is originaly broadcast as *free to air* then it should remain that way) Scrambling a F.T.A channel and then charging a fee to un-scramble and watch it is illegal !!!!!!!

4, They are aware that most RE-BROADCAST companies are charging a monthly fee for viewing the F.T.A channels and trying to disguise it as a management fee and this is been investigated and will be dealt with.......

All very interesting..............

Hello,

I do not know for sure and i guess you are correct its a GREY AREA but i think it will fall under the previously supplied info:

"2, If any free to air channel providers (BBC, ITV, CH4 etc...) specificaly object to and send an official complaint re the use of their content to the G.C / Courts then any companies using thier content will be forced to remove the channels involved......

3, It is illegal to charge for F.T.A channel reception (if a channel is originaly broadcast as *free to air* then it should remain that way) Scrambling a F.T.A channel and then charging a fee to un-scramble and watch it is illegal !!!!!!!"
