| Telmicro in the Round Town News 12/09 Todays Round Town News article does not sound good Quote: Come on Telmicro Tell us The Truth! T
elmicro’s statement which was printed in last week’s Round Town News has caused a number of complaints into our offices and to our reporters.
We thought that as many people already had some television channels it would only be a matter of time before their other customers received some too and so gave the company the benefit of the doubt and printed what we thought would be music to everyone’s ears. It appears that the company have spent the last five weeks issuing false promises and leaving their customers hanging on hoping that they will be patient. On Monday, the channels all disappeared again and RTN witnessed the huge Telmicro transmitter in Los Montesinos being dismantled by the Guardia Civil. By the time we left, there were no receivers or satellites dishes on the mast at all and despite assurances that the TV will be back up and running next week, it seems hard to believe that any company would be able to resurrect itself from the dire situation that Telmicro finds itself, in just a week. Patience
On Tuesday they issued a statement, at the same time that the La Siesta transmitter was being dismantled, saying that; “Telmicro has removed the TV system to do final checks and preparation, due to the inconsistency of the recent re-connecting of the different areas, therefore the official re-launch to re-introduce the new TV package will be on Tuesday 16th of September.” They then went on to apologise to their clients and thank them for their patience. Unfortunately customers’ patience is wearing very thin as we here at RTN are very aware. We receive literally hundreds of calls every day requesting more information. Statements
RTN has spent the majority of this week thoroughly investigating the whole ‘British TV in Spain’ situation and has spoken at length to the Comisión de Mercado de las Telecomunicaciones (CMT) who regulate television here in Spain. We have also spoken to the BBC, ITV and SKY and are awaiting statements from them, which unfortunately were not available at the time of going to print. RTN is offering Telmicro the opportunity to come and discuss their situation with so that we can then tell you, our readers, exactly what is happening. So come on, Telmicro, talk to us. Ring our office in La Nucia on 902 118 999 and we can arrange an interview in time for next week’s paper. If Telmicro do take up our offer of an interview, which we sincerely hope they do, you will be able to read it first next Thursday afternoon, only on our website at www.roundtownnews.co.uk A full report including the statements from the BBC, ITV and SKY, as well as the CMT will be in next week’s Round Town News, so make sure that you pick up a copy.

Just a few minor problems they had to sort out with the broadcasting.
Having the police taking all your broadcasting dishes can be seen as just a minor glitch, a small setback, nothing to worry about at all. Keep telling the customers to hang on TM, they believe you, honest.

| Re: Telmicro in the Round Town News 12/09 do we need RTN to get statements from the UK channels -
we know that they will say "rebroadcasting of their channels without permission is illegal" - they reported this the other week....
they will also say that receiving bbc and iTV outside of the UK is illegal - which it isnot - it is classed as satellite overspill and there is nothing they can do about it.... |

(Cabo Roig Area)? |

| Re: Telmicro in the Round Town News 12/09 (Insert loads of swear words of your own choice here) The going rate I believe is about 1350 euro. We just payed that for a 2.4m dish with digi box and hard base for the dish. In other words all in.
What company is it charging those prices just so the likes of Jon and Guy can see their advert and give an informed view
There are people at present importing petal dishes fro the UK. And these work out a lot cheaper than the price we payed by a good several hundred euro's. But there have been concerns about them being able to withstand our severe weather conditions and several of the satellite companies here don't like those dishes for other reasons.
But 2000 euro (being a big kid we have smilies for all occasions)

| Re: Telmicro in the Round Town News 12/09 2000 Euros - i hope this installation price includes at least 4 or 5 sky receivers.....or some work on a community dish install with lots of distribution points...
for a single dish and box expect to pay from 1350 to 1600 max.....which should include a 2.4 protuguese dish, installed, with a twin LNB, and a Sky receiver, and concrete base.
non sky receivers will bring the price down a bit more...
re petal dishes. they are cheap, but the quality of the equipment ./ material shows it. i, and a few other installers, can list major problems with these dishes, but one installer in madrid says that they perform worse than a portuguese 1.8....
persoanlly if that is the maplins fortecstar 6 segment dish, i would steer clear...
a few issues with it:
you will need to locate an adaptor as the exisiting LNB holder will not hold the recommended invacom prime focus LNB's...
the holes for attaching the petals may no match so you will end up drilling more holes!
the dish and the support are one peice and all attached - this makes it very difficult in the precesion alignment required for bbc and itvs and c4's - you have to move the whole dish - like i said not good for the minute adjustment require to set up a dish!
all the segment panels have to be lined up perfectly (i am talking less than 1 or 2 millimeters diffrerence) - useing a fishing line from panel to pandle and making sutre thathe line just touch in the middle of the dish....
the panels are vey "flimsy" and have seen them bent out of shape in winds of less than 60kmh!
the vertical positioning is only secured by one screw tightening onto a weak pole....
a member of one forum said that their performance was less than a solid 1.8m dish...but i cannot rememeber where he was trying one out....
on the plus side they are cheap, and easily transported (in the HUGE cardboard box).
and from another instaler on the CB
"I agree with Satandpcguy these Fortec dishes whilst being cheap do not perform well at all.we have looked at a couple in the past at request of clients and after hours of messing about could not get a whiff of BBC or ITV,in my opinion they perform no better than a good 1m offset dish." |

| Re: Telmicro in the Round Town News 12/09 There have been rumours that TM boxes can be used to receive TorreSat broadcasts. Which is why Torresat are said to be upgrading all the customers receiver dishes to combat this and alter how they send out their signals.
The two problems you have is where their transmitters are located and the frequencies they use.
At the moment you are a day or three away from finding out what is going on with TM in court and if they will be back in business. Some say their court case is Monday, others say Tuesday.
So it is worth hanging on for a day or two, just to get more of an idea of what will happen.
If you need a Brit fix and your not worried about what you receive. Spain has its own version of free view TV similar to that of the UK. All you need is a decoder box and ariel which can be purchased at most DIY stores.
You wont get the likes of the main UK TV channels, but some programmes are broadcast with two languages, Spanish and the original language. So you will get a Brit fix to keep you going.
I was told some information in the week. If its true, the other re broadcasters could be in just as much hot water as TM. Be like a domino effect, once one goes down the others will follow. Again, just rumours and nothing proved yet.
