Thanks Lee I have managed to set up a sky box I had lying about and can get some basic channels like 321, 322, 501, etc. not of the greatest interest but at least I can look at some thing.
Would there be any other way I can increase the amount of channels I get at the moment

There are guys presently offering twenty satellite channels for about 200 euro. Going by what one person said yesterday, thats now dropped to fourteen channels. Steer well clear of those guys.

They are nicking the signal off another re broadcaster and the re broadcaster is now stopping that.

Ask them if the system they sell is satellite, wheres the dish

Basically if you don't want to go down the re broadcaster route, the options you have available are

Spanish Digital Box - DVT/DBT
You could purchase a cheap DBT/DVT Digital box and get 30 Spanish TV stations, some of whom do offer programs and films in VO, or English. There is the Disney Channel for Kids, some Sports and films in English. You WILL NOT receive any UK Stations such as the BBC, ITV, CNN, etc. Cost - 30-50 euro.

You could pick up a cheap 80-100 euro sat dish and watch stripping Italian Housewives, possibly eurosport and a few other English language offerings that are all FTA, Free To Air. I believe you should get about 80-100 channels but most you probably won't want to watch.

Sat Dish.
One time fee. No DD. No subscription. You may need a 1.35 to 2.4 metre dish (yes that is BIG) but you will be able to pick up about 200 channels from Free Sat, which is NOT Sky, so you will miss out on SKY Sports. Prices from 500 euros to 1,500 euros depending on where you live, but you will probably lose BBC programs early evening.

SKY Dish
You could install this and use your Card illegally in Spain. Lots of people offer this service so you all know that it is available but you could turned off at any time if they find out. You are not doing anything illegal apart from breaking their terms and conditions.

Slingbox
If you have access to an ADSL line at home in the UK, and have ADSL here in Spain, you can set up a connection that shall let you watch Freeview channels from the UK here in Spain over the internet. About 200 euro I think but needs to be connected in the UK first. So you need someone in the UK with a satellite receiver and internet connection. Its also recommended to have a separate receiver box connected to the sling box, or you watch what the person is watching in the UK

This is also how some broadcasters were sending out their packages for a while.

Spanish TV
poor at the best of times. Much more variety with a DVT Box.
Yes, we do have coverage of the Olympics and Premier Football, Formula 1 too, although the commentary is in Spanish!

You will not receive any UK programs on any Spanish system, unless the company are licensed to do so.

The Guardia have been warning card sellers that their sale is illegal and have threatened to shut them down.

But you might have a family member flying over from the UK, who cant pack their card because it takes up to much space, so they send it to you.

Sky freeview or what ever its called, cost £20 and a fair bit more if the card is purchased in Spain.

Sky subscriptions need to be taken out with a bank account that registered to a UK address.

The grey part. Its against the terms and conditions of the sky TV contract to use the card outside of the UK. If they catch you, they can cut you off.

If you ring round the different satellite sellers you might strike lucky or you can check ebay. A quick search has thrown up one, so they do show up from time to time
Sky Blue Card Yellow House on eBay, also Digital Satellite Cards, Cards, Satellite Cable Freeview, Consumer Electronics (end time 19-Sep-08 17:30:00 BST)

There are people at present importing petal dishes fro the UK. And these work out a lot cheaper than the price we payed by a good several hundred euro's. But there have been concerns about them being able to withstand our severe weather conditions and several of the satellite companies here don't like those dishes for other reasons.

But 2000 euro (being a big kid we have smilies for all occasions)
Hi Lee sorry i have not replied earlier been tied up with work.
Unfortunately i do not remember which site it was as i have been looking at so many recently with TM gone, i can tell you though they were from inland Murcia area, Archena/Fortuna way they said, however i can give you a rundown of the quote given to me as follows;

Installation of 2.4mtr high gain dish complete with LNB concrete base cable and fittings etc, Pace HD Sky digibox (Excluding Viewing Card) 1650€
Distance Surcharge (Travel from Archena/Fortuna to Orihulea Costa) 75€
IVA @ 16% 276€
Grand Total 2001€

You can imagine my reaction to this, yes thats right i laughed,(Ha Ha Ha) and promptly dumped it especially with companies in our local area advertising anything from 695€ up to 1000€ for FTV or FTA channels, maybe they are not fitting such a a large dish or even the top of the range digibox, but the local guys are not going to overcharge like those out at Archena/Fortuna.

One of my concerns with this is which company to choose, as it seems at the moment if you ask anyone they know a man that fits them, but how do you now who is reliable? I think i will wait a while longer and see what is going to happen to TM.

Hi, well we offer a 1.9m dish with a sky digi box for 1,095€ cards are not included and im afraid we do not and will not be able to supply any.

The package includes a concrete base and once installed is ready to watch.

If you just want a free to air box with a 1.9m dish its only 975€ fully installed.

Many thanks

In some areas (Pilar for example) Teleast used to retransmit the TM signal. When they split up in May last time TM switched the signals off, Teleast joined up with Torresat.

If you left your aerial unmolested by TM you can still see the old Teleast signal, prior to them encrypting it.

I know one road in Santiago de la Ribera where one house can still receive TV as they were away when TM visited offering the 1 year Free subs offer. Their neighbours all pointing at the same mast cannot get it. I have tried myself all the frequencies published and more, and I still cannot get them working.

I even tried putting my own codes in and that didn't work. I am with Teleast and awaiting my upgrade but I do still have TV.

Unhappy Re: Telmicro in the Round Town News 12/09

I found this on another forum this morning it doesn't look promising for all of us with TM!!

Quote:
I was talking to a Guardia officer today,i have his property on my books so i wasn't under arrest before anyone asks!!!
I tentatively slipped in the question of Telmicro and their return.
Without divulging too much information he advised me that the best place for my Telmicro box was the recycling bin.........
So it looks like the tax evasion story was the truth and there are still people with licences to broadcast UK tv albeit not Sky Sports but BBC,ITV etc....
If this is correct than I think we will all be recycling TM digiboxs.

I think the first bit may be right, but to no-one has rights to rebroadcast BBC and ITV.

Torresat may be getting away with it by broadcasting some subscription Spanish channels, I think Teledeportes is one, and just bundling BBC etc in with it, so as not to be seen to be charging for BBC.

I dunno. But my Teleast Box which was TM equipment still seems to be working.
