Post Number 1 | Sorry its not how to get a discount it about driving the Spanish way.
As you might know I repair the bodywork of cars at peoples houses scruffs small dent key scratches etc
Today I was going into torry and noticed an accident on the roundabout at St Louis, so I parked in Mercadona and went back with my cards to see if either of the gentlemen were British and to give an instant quote. By the time I got there the Guardia Civil Trafico were there and told me to go away. The officer then recognised me as an ex neigbour and started to talk to me in English, and told me HiS views on roundabout accidents.
He stated that the Spanish were or at least should be taught this method.
They are taught to approach the roundabout in the normal lane (not the overtaking lane) and to drive around the roundabout the whole way in the normal lane wether the want the 1st 2nd or 3rd exit. The reasoning was that if everyone was in the normal lane and nobody in the overtaking lane 95% of the accident would not happen.
He clainmed that most accidents happens when a North European normally approaches in the overtaking lane drive through the roundabout in that lane and exit the 2nd exit into the overtaking lane having an accident with the person in the normal lane. He did admit that some of the Spanish youth now used this method.
He said that he is fed up with mainly north Europeans telling him that the Spanish do not know how to use rioundabouts. He points out to them that if the roundabout was one lane all the way round with no overtaking lane that nearly all accident would be erradicated.
One last point this is Spain try and drive by Spanish rules as if you have an accident on the roundabout and you are not in the normal lane any Police or Guardia officer will all lay the blame at your door.
I hope you can understand this post as it might be a bit long winded, but I know what I mean |
