Looky looky men are the single biggest pain in the arse on the Spanish beach resorts.

Its bad enough when you see these guys walking up and down the Spanish beaches carrying their fake sunglasses, fake watches and anything else they think they can flog you.

What ever you don, do not at any cost make eye contact with them. Wear dark glasses if you see them, they see the whites of your eyes and you anther victim.

This year they seem a complete pain, with the recession kicking in, they will try their best.

A mate of mine made the mistake of looking at the watches one was selling. I kid you not, my mates an idiot in holiday mode with a pocket full money to waste, by the time we left the restaurant, he had three pairs of sunglasses and a new watch. Much to the amusement of the waiting staff, who noticed a different looky looky man at our table each time they were out serving people.

I dont like being disturbed by these people, even if your walking along a promenade, I hate them even more when your sat at a beach restaurant.

Today they were shaking his hand as we returned for another meal. And then the barrage started. No watches, no sunglasses, but two womens handbags were their efforts on parting him with his money today.

There was an ultimatum at this point, carry the bags back to the car on full view and he would walk 100 yards in front or behind until they could be well and truly hidden in the car.

If you need a watch in Spain, buy one from a jewelers. or the money these guys charge, why buy something that will break in a week, when you can buy something a lot better quality from a decent shop.

All the time you buy from these guys you encourage them to carry on. Would you keep feeding a rat in your garden in the hope it will go away.

Dont get me going on the idiots who cant play accordions and then go round with their begging pots. Then mutter something under their breath when they walk away if you dont give them any money

HHhhhmmmm, this is happening in the Uk too - you go for a nice day out along a beach minding your business - and wish they would mind theres!
I suppose they are trying to make a buck like the rest of us - but their methods and merchandise leave a lot to be desired.

Some of the restaurant / bar owners get real pissed at those guys.

I was in Guardamar last night eating out.

first we had the usual couple of guys selling fishing rods and rugs, then came the accordion guy, then the violinist, then the chuckle brothers with the flute and tamborine.

and stupidly enough one of my dads friends payed each one 2€ *sigh*

then they stuck around for the next 5 min playing an awful racket!

And if im feeling reallllllly wild (slight over exaggeration) i´ll have a little play around with the looky looky guys, ask stupid questions about the stuff their selling and then say im not interested haha.

There is nopthing worse than eating dinner and being interrupted by a guy flogging DVDs, watches and general tat.

If you ask me the bar/restaurant owners should tell them to get off their premises.
