Brits 'heading far afield this autumn'

 

An increasing number of British travellers are planning to visit long-haul destinations this autumn, according to new research.

The Post Office revealed that countries such as Kenya and Egypt are proving popular and attracting strong demand for their currencies.

China and Indonesia have also seen strong interest from British travellers, according to the research, as well as short-haul destinations that are not part of the eurozone such as Croatia and Turkey.

The Post Office recommended that people intending to head abroad over the coming months should plan ahead to ensure that they avoid any unnecessary costs or complications.

Sarah Munro, the organisation's head of travel services, said that sensible options include using a pre-paid card and acquiring foreign currency well in advance.

Research released by the Post Office last month showed that over 4.8 million people had booked to go away for the October half-term, but many were taking a risk by leaving important arrangements until the last minute.
